AC Series Explosion-proof Plug and Socket
An interlocked plug and socket for temporary power and portable equipment in classified areas. The socket carries ON/OFF indication and the interlock holds the plug until the supply is off, so a live plug cannot be pulled. The housing is die-cast aluminium with an electrostatic spray finish; the entries are G3/4" or G1¼", rated 16 A to 63 A at 220–250 V or 380–415 V, 50 Hz, in an IP65 housing.

Features
- Interlocked — the socket and plug are interlocked so the plug can only be inserted or withdrawn with the supply off. For portable equipment in a classified area that is the point of the assembly.
- ON/OFF indication on the socket — the state of the assembly is visible at the point of use.
- T4, not T6 — the sheet marks this series at temperature class T4. If your area classification needs T6, this series is not the right one; tell us and we will check the range.
- Both gas groups on the sheet — IIB and IIC flameproof versions are both marked, so the group is matched to the area classification rather than assumed.
- 16 A / 32 A / 63 A — matching the usual sizes for hand tools, welding sets and temporary distribution.
- Pole options — 1P+N+PE, 3P+PE and 3P+N+PE, each available at 16 A, 32 A and 63 A, so single-phase tools and three-phase sets can be fed from the same series.
- Die-cast aluminium housing — high-pressure electrostatic plastic spray finish with stainless steel exposed fasteners, for outdoor and wash-down locations.
- Steel conduit or cable wiring — the installation method is not fixed by the assembly.
- IP65 — sealed against dust and water jets, so the assembly can be used outdoors and in wash-down areas.
- Dust marking on the same unit — Ex tb IIIC T130°C Db alongside the gas marking.
Where the AC series is used
- Maintenance power points on refineries, chemical plants and offshore facilities
- Portable tools and test equipment that has to be plugged in inside a classified area
- Welding sets, where the supply is connected and disconnected at the point of work
- Temporary distribution during shutdowns and turnarounds
- Anywhere the plug has to be removed regularly — the interlock is what makes that safe
