BX Series Explosion-proof Intelligent Distribution Box (Cabinet)
A flameproof (Ex d) distribution cabinet with an intelligent, modular circuit design, built for main and branch power distribution and lighting control in classified areas. Circuits can be operated remotely over the Internet of Things (IoT), and the built-in high-breaking MCB or moulded case circuit breaker is operated from the handle on the cover — without opening the enclosure.

- Ex db IIC T4/T6 Gb
- Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db
- Flameproof (Ex d)
- IP65
- Main switch ≤800 A
- Branch ≤500 A

Features
- Flameproof construction — built as an Ex d enclosure, so switching and protective devices can be housed inside it.
- Intelligent modular design — lighting and distribution circuits are modular and combined to suit the project.
- IoT remote operation — circuits can be operated remotely over the Internet of Things, not only at the cabinet.
- Cover-operated breaker — the built-in high-breaking MCB or moulded case circuit breaker is operated from the handle on the cover.
- Three housing options — die-cast aluminium alloy, welded steel plate with high-pressure electrostatic plastic spray, or welded stainless steel.
- Wide electrical range — rated voltages from 24 V to 690 V, with main switch currents up to 800 A and branch currents up to 500 A.
- Flexible wiring — steel tube or cable wiring, with inlet threads from G1/2 to G4 or from M20 to M115×1.5.
- Dust-rated variant — an Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db marking is available for combustible dust areas.
Where the BX series is used
- Main and branch power distribution in process units, pump stations and compressor houses
- Lighting distribution and control, grouped by area so a fault trips one zone rather than the whole site
- Motor and equipment control where the switching devices are housed inside the enclosure
- Installations that need remote or automated operation of circuits rather than local switching only
- Plants with combustible dust exposure, using the Ex tb marking
For the modular BXM(D) series (main switch ≤250 A, branch ≤63 A), see the BXM(D) distribution box page. Not sure which cabinet suits the duty? The industrial distribution boxes page sets out how a hazardous-area distribution box is specified.
